Sarah is excited to be the Sassafras Class teacher for a fourth year in the forest!

Sarah graduated from Grand Valley State University in Michigan with a major in English Language and Literature and an endorsement in elementary education. Sarah moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2004 where she quickly got involved with local farms, viticulture, and herbal medicine while also serving as a K-2 teacher for almost two decades.

It is an honor for Sarah to weave nature into each step of the learning journey, forming what Thomas Berry calls a “friendship relation” with the nonhuman world.
